The Vancouver Giants (10-11-3-1) will play their second game in as many nights when they visit the Spokane Chiefs (15-7-0-1) on Wednesday evening. The game will mark the second and final meeting between the teams this season. The Chiefs took the first game 6-4 at the Pacific Coliseum on November 1st.
Vancouver is coming off a disappointing 2-1 overtime loss to the Tri-City Americans in Kennewick on Tuesday night. Despite heavily outshooting the Americans, the G-Men had to settle for the single point. Vancouver now has a record of 1-5-2-0 against teams from the US Division. The Giants were unable to score on the power play on Tuesday, but they also didn't concede any power play goals. The Vancouver penalty kill currently sits fifth in the WHL at 83.04 per cent.
The Chiefs haven't played since Saturday when they lost 3-2 in a shootout to the Regina Pats on home ice. Mitch Holmberg and Mike Aviani have continued to do the bulk of the offensive heavy lifting for Spokane. Holmberg leads the WHL in points with 55 while Aviani sits in sixth with 35 points. The Chiefs also boast the second best power play in the league as they've scored on 28.57 per cent of their power play opportunities.
