Pre-Game Report: Giants at Wheat Kings

The Vancouver Giants will start a six game East Division road-trip on Friday night when they visit the Brandon Wheat Kings for their only meeting of the season. The last time the two teams faced each other, the Wheat Kings picked up a 3-2 win at the Pacific Coliseum on October 24, 2012.

The Giants will look to begin the month of October with a fresh outlook after a slow start to the season and a number of injuries. New captain Dalton Thrower will make his Giants debut while Mason Geertsen is expected to return to the line-up as well. The 18-year-old hasn't played since being injured in the season opener against Victoria. Vancouver enters Friday's action with the top penalty kill in the WHL. The G-Men have only allowed one power play goal on 15 opportunities.

The Wheat Kings are 3-2-0-0 through their first five games. Most recently, Brandon defeated the Edmonton Oil Kings 4-3 on Wednesday night. The Wheat Kings were boosted by the return of defenseman Ryan Pulock from New York Islanders camp. The native of Grandview, Manitoba had two goals and two assists in his first WHL game of the season. Brandon has been good at home as the Wheat Kings are 2-0 at Westman Place to start the young season.
