The Vancouver Giants (2-7-1-1) will look for their second straight win when they host the Calgary Hitmen (9-3-0-1) at the Pacific Coliseum on Wednesday evening. The Hitmen swept the season series with the Giants in 2012-2013, going 2-0 against Vancouver.
The G-Men begin a stretch of six games in eight days starting with tonight's match-up against Calgary. The Vancouver club is coming off its second win of the season last Friday against Kamloops, a victory that bumped an eight game losing skid. Defenseman Brett Kulak had a goal and two assists in the win and now leads the team in points with eight, followed closely by Dalton Thrower who has four goals and three assists in seven games.
The Hitmen sit atop the Eastern Conference heading into Wednesday's action and have picked up points in their last seven straight games. Abbotsford native Jake Virtanen has been a big part of Calgary's early season success, tallying 11 points in 13 games. The Hitmen also feature defenseman Josh Thrower, the younger brother of Giants captain Dalton. Calgary's power play is second best in the WHL as the Hitmen have scored on over 25 per cent of their opportunities with the man advantage.
